Why am I up so Early??

It is 7:30 am and you may ask yourself, self... what are you doing up so early on a day when you don't have to work. Well... blame hubby. When he got up this morning he got the dog all riled up and they had to go out. By the time I got them outside to do their business (in the pouring rain, no less) and back in the house, I was awake. This was about 6 am. So I stayed up. I stripped the bed and am washing everything. Sheets, comforter, mattress pad... the whole works. I have two loads already done. I figured that since yesterday was the start of winter, I could take my fall themed sheets and comforter (they have fall colored leaves on them) off and replace them with my winter ones (snowflakes, mittens and such). Yes, I know, I am a bit goofy that way. I have sheets and comforters for each season. And they all coordinate. Each season I will switch the bedding out with something new. I guess the hardest part is finding room to store all the sheets and comforters (at last count there were 6).

Boomer is a one dog destruction crew. For being only 8 lbs, he sure likes to literally destroy the dog toys we buy. The toys that say they are for chewers, yeah right, those last about a month. Stuffed squeaky animals, those will maybe last a few days. Some of Riley's favorite toys, have met with disaster. Riley has (or had) a couple of toys that made noise when you squeezed them, a duck, pig, monkey, sheep, they are all gone now. Boomer literally rips them to pieces. I am forever walking around and picking up chunks for animal stuffing around the house. The worst ones are the tennis balls. They shred very nicely and hurt when you step on them in the middle of the night. The good news is is that he does not mess with furniture or shoes. Hopefully, he will grow out of that chewing phase.

I worked a half of day yesterday and went to Kohl's around lunchtime. I was shocked. There were only about 40 cars in the lot. The store was practically barren. I was able to wander around the store and pick up some stuff for presents and myself, without having to beat anyone up. There were so many workers milling around, it was kinda sad as they kept coming up to you to ask if they could be of any assistance. You don't see that very often.

I even got all the presents that I had wrapped. Amazing. I hate wrapping presents. And this year I vowed to use up the wrapping paper that I already have and not buy anymore until that is gone... somehow I ended up with about 20 rolls of paper. I killed off 3 rolls already.

My cousin, who was recently diagnosed with cancer in his esophogus, had a heart attack yesterday. Man, he has had some really bad luck lately. I am going to try and get up to the hospital to see him this weekend as it looks like he may be in there a while. He was going to start with his cancer treatment right after the holidays. I don't know what will happen now.

The rest of the weekend is looking to be busy. Saturday, the gang is getting together for our annual holiday gathering. Since P&K sold the bar, we don't all get together like we used to. This should be a fun nite. K, remember to never leave your drink unattended.... For those who may not know, K, is not a big drinker. So last year, whenever she would leave to go to the bathroom we would fill her glass up. She never realized it. The next day we went out to eat with them and she could not figure out how she got so drunk and was a hurting unit. I have a hard time keeping a straight face and had to tell her what we did. She had no idea. It was too funny...

Christmas Eve, since we do nothing with hubby's family, we go out to eat with P & K. Not sure where we will end up this year. It is a nice time. I think StB may join us this year as well. The more the merrier.

Christmas Day is at my parents. We put out a bunch of food and let the kids go nuts. The dogs always have fun as well running around and playing in the paper.

ZOBMONDO!!

Would you rather....

----OR----

gross teeth and regular breath?

I am going with good teeth. That is the one thing I am very picky about it my teeth. My parents spent alot of money for me to have nice teeth. I try to keep them looking nice.

Have a good Christmas everyone. Stay safe and I hope Santa is good to you!!

Shopping Online

I found a great site that if you do any of shopping online can save you some money.

Jellyfish.com is a site that was started by a couple of guys in Wisconsin and if you go to a retailer's site thru Jellyfish and make a purchase, you get cash back. They have some of the biggest retailers online. Barnes & Noble, Circuit City, Best Buy to name a few.

I have purchased a few things thru the site already and have about 12 bucks in my account. If you use my name as a referral, I get a cut in anything that you buy from the site as well. Use this link to sign up. It is only good for US and Canadian residents.

They also have something called the Smack Deal of the Day. You can get some fantastic deals on stuff. The deals are every weekday at 1:00 pm EST. You can check out the details on the site. Unfortunately, the site is blocked from my work and can't try to get the deals myself. They have some good stuff on there.

Check it out and happy shopping!

Holiday Time

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I know it has been a while since my last post. Not much to say and too lazy. It is amazing that I even have any readers left but according to my stats at least 13 people have stopped by today to check me out. I should be nice and give them something to read about.

Last nite was hubby's company holiday party. It was a good time. It was at the Italian Community Center. A really pretty place. The food was fab. I even got to try a new, to me, beer called Sprecher Micro Light. The beer was really good and went down smooth. One you could drink all evening, which I did. Next time you are out, try one. The entertainment was a casino theme. You got 'chips' to play with. Not that you got anything for winning or losing but it was still fun. I wanted to play bocce but found out way later that it was down the hall and somewhere we never found.

Today, we went Christmas shopping. We got most of it done. Tomorrow will be spent getting the gift cards we need to pick up yet. We are fairly lucky in that we only have to buy for a few people and half of them are my nieces. They are easy. Now I have to get everything wrapped. I hate wrapping gifts. I got all my Christmas cards out on Friday. A little later than I wanted but still in time.

Found out earlier in the week that the guy we hired in Sept. is leaving at the end of the year. Great.... now we are back down to three of us again. It is going to SUCK!! He is going to a company that I would love to get into. They are consistently ranked as one of the top companies to work for nationally. I am going to hit him up after bonus/raise time in Feb and see if there are any open positions. This is one of those companies that hires by 'knowing someone on the inside'. The nice thing is that it is about 10 minutes from home. It would mean no more 45-60 min commutes to work and in crappy traffic.

ZOBMONDO!!

Would you rather....

Give someone the finger when he cuts you off in his car and have him turn out to be your priest or rabbi

----OR----

have your friends catch you picking up trash while you're wearing a felon-orange jumpsuit?

I am going with giving the priest the finger. I'm not religious so it would matter.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Update from the Fire Drill

On Monday, when I was bitching about the fire drill, I should have thanked my employer. On Wednesday, there was an explosion at a local company. It killed three poeple and injured almost another 50. Here is a picture of the aftermath and some articles.

Bottom line.... someone smelled gas and they began evacuating the buildings. This action probably saved alot of live. I guess I should be happy that we have a plan in place and know how to execute it...

Week In Review

The past week as been a bit hectic with stuff going on.... not so much to me but to others around me.

Hubby has been working alot of hours and has not been getting home until after 9pm every nite. All I can say is that all the hours had better pay off come raise time. Tonite he is off playing poker. Hope he does better than he did last time. We are also playing tomorrow at Big Momma's. DJW, are you joining us??

For the few people who read my blog, that don't know, Gambino had to go in for more surgery yesterday. Her doctor found more cancerous cells and they did surgery right away. She is doing well. I think that she will now have to go thru radiation and chemo. That sucks!!

I also found out that my cousin has cancer of his esophagus. He is 44. The doctors said that it is inoperable. He is going to Chicago next week to meet with some cancer specialists. What is scary is that he had a sore throat around Thanksgiving and it never got better. It felt like he had something stuck in his throat. He went to the doctor and they did a scope and found a mass in his esophagus. They biopsied it and found out that it was a very aggressive form of cancer. This is really crappy!

We finally got a new boss at work. She is out in Portland, OR. We are in Milwaukee and we have another person in St. Paul. Should be interesting to see how this works. We are used to working in virtual teams so... it will be nice to actually have someone who has the time to work to get stuff back in order. The last few months have been hell and it had better pay for me come raise and bonus time in Feb.

It has been really cold here this past week. I hate it, I am not a cold weather gal. Give me the warm weather any day. At least it is supposed to warm up this weekend. I need to get my truck washed. It is really dirty.

ZOBMONDO!!

Would you rather....

Have frequent spurts of uncontrollable drooling

----OR----

be a bed wetter?

I am going with the bed wetting. Only hubby would know. everyone would see me drool.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

What a Crock....

WTF?!?!

We had fire drill today at work. It was about 9:30am this morning. It was 12 degrees out and snowing. We had to stand outside and wait until the building was cleared. That took about 20 minutes. I was pissed. It was cold outside and our place to meet in inclement weather was the liquor store up the hill that went out of business last summer. So we had to stand outside the whole time. Why could they not do that 2 weeks ago when it was 60 degrees out??

Stuff

I am working on a server upgrade that has gone bad and right now I am hosting a call between several different areas. I don't need to actually do anything except listen and make calls to get the right people involved... I am mad as it was going so well. We were two hours ahead of scheduled then BAM.. the shit hits the fan. Nothing that we did... just stuff that was not caught in testing by other areas. We are now once again looking like we have to back something out. grrrrr.. Somedays I really hate this job.

Let's see what has gone on in the last week.

Hubby and I went to Hooter's to watch the football game with some friends. We got there about 3:30 or so. I guess I am a wimp and can't keep up drinking any more. I was pretty much toast by 8:30-9:00pm. I can't drink with the big boys.....

On Friday, we got dumped on with about 13 inches of snow. Thankfully, I was able to work from home and didn't have to worry about driving in. After the snow was all cleaned up we met some friends for a fish fry. It was a nice time, hubby and I ended up sitting in the bar after dinner and it was almost 1:00am before we got home. We both felt like poo the next morning. We slept until after 10:30am.

Our neighbors had their annual Christmas party last nite. It was ok. For whatever reason it broke up by 10:30. It was strange. I think that the hostess was not happy about something as she hardly said anything to anyone most of the evening. oh well...

It is now 11:15 pm and I am still working on this server upgrade. We are working on a fix and hopefully that will prevent us from having to do a full back out of the server upgrade. If we have to backout it. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am getting tired and cranky as I have been working on this now since 3:00pm. Nothing like a short weekend. I have to be up for work at 5:30 tomorrow.

Yeah, a temporary fix was able to be implemented. This is great cuz we don't have to back out the server upgrade. It is now 11:53 pm. I am going to bed.... nighty night all!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Later today hubby and I and the boys are heading over to my parents for dinner. Riley will like it cuz he knows that the kids will be dropping food on the floor that he gets to eat.

Last night, we headed up to Big Momma's for a few cocktails. It was good to see a few people who we have not seen in awhile. We laughed over a few stories of our friend Dave who passed away earlier this year and how a several years ago we had a party up at the bar and Dave was deep frying turkeys. He was cutting up the turkey and in between licking his fingers and then going back to touch the food.... ahhh the good times. It was nice to see Russ and Elaine, Vicki and Zeke, and a few others. We are thankful for the great friends that we have.

I am also very thankful that our good friend, Ms. Gambino, is on her way to a speedy recovery. For those of you who may not know, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery yesterday. She came thru the surgery with flying colors and her doctor is very optimistic that everything was removed. She was very lucky that it was caught very early. She has just gone in for a routine doctor visit and in less than a month was having the surgery. She will still need to go thru radiation treatments but it had not spread to her lymph nodes or anywhere else. The scariest part of this is that she is only 38 with no family history. So ladies, I urge you to have a mammogram at your next doctor visit. I know that at my next visit in Jan, I will be having one done.

So my faithful readers... what are you thankful for this year??

Have a wonderful holiday. All I know is that I will NOT be hitting the stores tomorrow for Black Friday. I avoid doing any shopping on that day. I hate the crowds way too much.

Getting You Caught Up

Well, when we last left our heroine she was fighting a cold.....

I am glad to say that after a visit to the doctor and some great drugs, I am now healthy. Or at least as healthy as I'm gonna get. By last Friday, my cold was so bad, I was not getting any sleep cuz I could not breathe. So, I went to the Aurora QuickCare clinic. They are clinics that are staffed with a nurse practitioner and they can write scripts. I went and walked out 20 minutes later with a diagnosis of a sinus infection and an antibotic and decongestant. After a few days of the meds I began to feel much better. If you have a minor cold, I would recommend these places. Quick, easy and only 40 bucks. They don't take any insurance so there is minimal paperwork.

Last weekend was spent laying low and getting better. Fast forward to this week....

On Thursday, hubby and I went to the Bob Seger concert. It was a good time. There were alot of old people there... and by old, I mean walkers and oxygen tanks, literally. I seen more polyester in three hours than I do in a month. He played all of his favorites and a few new things. Hubby ended up getting really drunk. Not sure how that happened but Ken and Arnie should have benn there to take the blame for getting him that way. I was kinda bummed that we were in a section that was a sitting section. I go to concerts to sing and dance. Not sit. If I wanted to sit and listen I would buy the dvd and watch it at home. I got a few looks when I was dancing a few times. I didn't care I paid my money for the ticket and was going to do as I pleased.

This weekend, hubby is out of town for the Packer game. I have a few things going on but otherwise will enjoy the peace and quiet. Looking forward to heading out with the gang for the game tomorrow. It has been awhile since I have seen some of them so it will be a good time.

ZOBMONDO!!

Would you rather....

Streak naked through your office

----OR----

be known as the office farter?

I am going with streaking. That is a one time deal. Streak and done. I have enough gassy friends who will take the office farter title.

See you all later!

....and the winner is....

Well, the elections are finally over. Ended up staying until about 1:30 am waiting for a few of the suburbs to get their stuff in.

I am so glad that I can come home from work tomorrow and not find 6 messages on the machine from various candidates wanting me to vote for them. It was to the point the last few days, I did not even answer the phone just so I did not have to listen to them.

Voting was quite painless. Since I had voted before, I got to go to the head of the line and get my ballot right away. I connected the two parts of the arrow for my choices and away I went. I was literally in there less than 5 minutes. Some of my candidates won, others lost, and some races I did not vote in. I feel that if I did not have the time, inclination or whatever to properly make an informed choice about who to vote for I am better off not voting for that race. It is not a fair thing to do.

There were two referendums on the ballot this year. Both were quite interesting. First one, the death penalty. You never heard much about it. Which is very surprising. I think that it is a good idea. A good example is about 2-3 years ago this guy, who's name escapes me, was released from prison. He was wrongly convicted. DNA evidence proved it. He was in prison for like 18 years. Well about a year or so after he got out he raped, sodomized, killed, dismembered and burned a young women. Now this guy deserves to die for his crime. This was only an advisory referendum so we will see what happens.

The other one is the 'gay' marriage vote. I have to say I voted no. To me is really does not matter. People gay or straight should be able to have the rights. I think of it like this. I have a co-worker who is gay. He is a great guy and we get along fantastic. He and his partner are in a committed relationship and have been for like 10 years. They own a house together. But since their relationship is not recognized they both have to pay for their own insurance and have no legal rights if something should happen to one of them. To me that is wrong. They are more stable and moral than some couples I know. I don't care if they don't call it a 'marriage'... call it a civil union or something. I just think they should have the same rights as hubby and I do.

Ok, I'm done and jumping off my soapbox now. On to other stuff..... my cold has not gone from my lungs to my head. My sinuses are all sorts of plugged up and my nose is contantly running. Maybe someday I will be able to breathe and finally get to work out. My body feels like shit cuz it has been like 3 weeks since I did anything. It was so nice out today and I wanted to get a bike ride in but when you can't breathe it is hard to do much. So I played poker online. Thew last game I played in was great. People play like shit. I have like 2-7o in the big blind. 4 people call. I check. Flop come 7-7-2. Full house. Sweet. I make a nominal raise, kinda like I am trying to steal the pot. 3 people call. Cool. Turn comes a K. One guy raises about 1/2 the pot. I hesitate and call. Someone else calls. River comes a rag. I check. Guy bets pot, othe guy calls, I raise all in. It was only a couple hundred bucks more so what the heck. They both call. I win. Then they bitch that I sucked it out. WTF??! I had them on the flop. I just let you make all my money for me. Similar thing happened when I hit quad Js. Took two people out on that hand. Overall, I was up about 40 bucks today. Not too shabby.

Well... enough of my ramblings... talk to you all later....

Being Sick... Packers.... A Letter

I hate being sick. I am not a good sick person. I have had this cold now for over a week. I think that I will be making a stop at the clinic thingy to get some drugs. The cough has now settled into my chest and is rattling around. It is the hardest at nite when I lay down. Everything gets stuck in my lungs I get this nice coughing spell. I have just been laying low, going to bed early and just taking it easy.

Last Sunday, our next door neighbors had a Packer party. They won it thru a local radio station and bank. The highlight of the party was the guests of honor were Max McGee and Jim Irwin. They were the Packer radio announcers for 20 years. Max was notorious for being hungover/still drunk when he played in Super Bowl 1. It was a blast and they were both really nice. To start the third quarter, they gave their play by play. Jim was really good even not knowing who the players were. Max, by this time, was a bit tipsy and just kinda rambled on. I did alot of talking and was kinda tipsy myself and that is how I lost my voice. My throat was so sore by the end of the day. Being outside for most of the afternoon did not help either. I have some cool pictures but have to take them off my camera yet.

I got a letter in the mail today. I was invited to join Mensa. YEAH!! I was really surprised that I got the results so quickly. This means that I scored in the top 2% of the general population. So now for the low price of $52 a year I can join, take part in the activities and get their magazine.

Other than that not much else is going on. I hate leaving for work in the dark and getting home when it is almost dark.

Should make hubby happy

I literally cannot talk anymore. I have lost my voice completely. OH MY GOD and it hurts like hell to say anything. FUCK!!.. Details and pictures to follow...

The Grossest Thing

I just seen a commercial from KFC on TV. It featured some favorites bowl thingy. It was so gross, I wanted to hurl.

A layer of mashed potatoes, corn, chicken pieces, gravy and cheese all in one thing. The only good thing about it would be the cheese. The rest gross....

In case you haven't noticed, I do not like KFC. I am not a fan of fried chicken. Too greasy and I have to pick the skin and breading off to actually eat the chicken.

Work Sucks!

What another crappy week it has been. I have been fighting a losing battle with a cold and have been in bed by 8:30 for the last few nites. I hate the fact that it has settled into my chest and I cough like a 2-pack a day smoker. Good news, I have lost like 5 lbs this week. Now to keep it off.

My old boss has yet to find more ways to screw our team over evn tho' his last day was Monday (for which he never showed up for). So on Tuesday, he comes strolling in to turn his laptop, personnel files and badge into HR.

On Wednesday, I find out that he was supposed to send some emails out to folks for their approval on something like two weeks ago. He never did so I am left scrambling to figure out what they need to say and get them out to the right people.

On Thursday, a decision that he made when he first started came back to haunt me and caused me to fix that all morning long.

Today, (I know... you are thinking how much more crap can this guy pull?!?!) I find out, by accident, that a big switch/network change that was cancelled for last weekend has been rescheduled for this weekend. Since there are already two people off and there other guy is too new, I end up doing it. Great... it means I have to get up at 3:00am, log in to VPN, make sure some routers are up, send myself a few test pages to ensure connectivity and then call into the bridge line to begin my certification... FUCK!!! It would have been nice to know this earlier in the week... old boss was getting the emails and meeting invites... never got forwarded on to us...

All I know is that I have thought about quitting more times in the last month than I have in the last 5 years. How many more times is this guy going to fuck us over and we have to pick up the pieces?? I am sick and crabby.... not a good combination.

In other work related news... company is VERY big on getting out and voting. We are a company of about 56,000 people nationwide. We have these huge posters that say stuff like: "VOTE... It's your right" (not if you are a felon or a US citizen). "Every vote counts" and more propaganda. I love the fact that all they want you to do is vote... how about telling people to make an informed voting decision?? nooooo... that would make sense.

I am pretty sure I seen a guy masturbating in his black Honda Accord on the way home the other day. While driving. In broad daylight. Down the freeway. At 65 miles an hour. Not sure what else you would be doing in a car with arm motions like that. I could never stay next to him long enough to confirm what he was doing. I thought I had seen it all... until that. Have you guys ever seen that before??

ZOBMONDO!!

Would you rather....

As a woman, have real, although low hanging 34-Ds

have uppity, obnoxiously fake 34-Ds?

Have to say, that is not all that big. I am a 36 DD. I would love to have boobs that size. I could actually buy blouses and not have the buttons popping open at the chest or be so big that they are baggy as hell. Oh, yeah.... I am going with the real ones. Nothing better than the real thing baby!

The Weekend in Review

Another weekend has just flown by.

Friday, hubby played poker. I stayed home as I had some work stuff to do. I hate this shit of being on call and expected to be available 24x7. I was up until after 3 waiting for people to call back with verification of stuff. Totally screwed up my sleep. At least I took a nap. I also got some laundry and cleaning done around the house.

Saturday, dawned cold and rainy.... just like every other day for the past week. Can you tell I am getting sick of this weather??

Yesterday was National Testing day for Mensa. Since the testing was at the library about 5 minutes from my house, I decided to go take the test and see what happens. I was surprised that there was 12 people who were taking the test. 4 women and 8 men. The proctor was also surprised by the high turnout. He only expected 4-5 people. The tests were ok. I took the California Test of Mental Maturity and the Wonderlic test. I have taken both of them before and felt comfortable with them. I had taken the Wonderlic as recently as 5 years ago and did very well on it. I need to score in the top 2% of the general population on either test in order to be invited to join Mensa. I will not get my actual test scores but an accepted or not accepted. I will keep you updated on my results.

Here is a fact that many of you probably didn't know about me. I skipped 3rd grade. The school wanted me to skip 5th grade as well but I was already the youngest in my class so my parents said no to that one. I was also reading Nancy Drew books before I started kindergarten. The real books not the short story ones. To this day, I love to read.

At night, hubby and I took my nieces to the Bucks game. We had a blast. They had never been to a game before and liked it that they could yell and scream and cheer. The highlite of the evening was when they were 'dancing' and got to be on the jumbo screen.

We were supposed to go to a bonfire after the game but neither one of us felt like standing around a fire in the rain.

Today was a lay low kinda day. It finally stopped raining and the sun came out (yippee!). I made a big pot of chili and we watched the Packers actually win a game. I am still trying to figure out the last plays before half time.

Workin' for a Livin'

So in the week since my current boss, S, announced that he is leaving, he has been useless. Twice, in the past week, he has screwed something up that leaves me to pick up the pieces.

First was a major change to how departments are categorized. We went thru and renamed almost everything to keep the naming standards consistent. I had put together a proposal and timeline of what we were going to do and how. I even wrote the email that he just needed to proof read and send out. Did he send it out?? nooooo. I asked him about it twice and the second time he said that he had sent it and had gotten no feedback and that I could go ahead and begin making changes. Which I did. Last Friday, I find out that no one reviewed anything and never signed off on it. I told them that as far as I knew, that he had sent it out and told me it was ok to go ahead with my plan. If they had issues with it they should take that up with my boss, S.

Then last Thursday, we have a weekly enterprise review meeting of all the changes that are going on in the company. I had a couple of changes to talk about and one that I had asked my boss about twice that was being made by our vendor. He said both times that I did not need to talk about it that it was almost no impact and he would let the help desk know about it. In case they got any calls. Well, 10:30 am on Saturday morning, hubby and I are out doing errands and lo and behold, my pager goes off. The change that he thought no one would notice was noticed. Our app was down for about 30 minutes in the morning and about another 20 minutes in the afternoon. On top of that he never told the help desk about it.

Now our old boss, would have told everyone about the change. Which was good. New boss, tells no one. When I first joined this group about 2 years ago, it was known as a black hole. You would send stuff in and never hear from them again. Communication was non-existent. We have worked very hard over the last couple of years to change that. S will ruin that reputation in a mere 6 weeks that he was with the team. That pisses me off. I am seriously beginning to think about looking for another job... anyone know of any openings for a self-proclaimed computer geek??

ZOBMONDO!!

Strange but True

This is the kind of stuff you can find if you click "Next blog".

Apparently, the cars my hubby (Toyota Tundra) and I (Toyota 4-Runner) own are not the cars that people have sex in. According to this site (you can go to the site for pictures) the top ten cars that people are getting busy in are as follows.

1. Volvo Estate
2. Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van
3. VW Camper Van
4. BMW 3 Series Saloon
5. Ford Escort
6. Audi TT
7. Land Rover Discovery
8. Porsche Carrera
9. VW Golf
10. Ford Focus

The thing I find the most interesting is that half of them are rather small cars. Last time I checked a Porsche Carrera was just a 2 seater. Now I can see getting it on the the VW Camper Van. Almost like doing it in the Mystery Machine van. Now there's a flashback for ya.

In place of today's Zobmondo, tell us what kinds of cars/trucks/whatever, you have gotten busy in.

Must Have Jinxed It

So the other day I posted about my new boss. Well today, he submitted his resignation. Great.... Now we will get another boss. No idea as of yet who that will be but, we should find out fairly quickly as my current boss is only around until the 23rd of the month.

This is going to once again suck because I will end up taking over some of the stuff until the new boss gets up to speed. I have a server upgrade coming up on the 29th and it is going to be a hard one. Lots of regression testing. I am already have a hard time with some of the people because they don't want to upgrade their current stuff. grrrrrr....I hate breaking in new bosses.

On to more happier stuff....

Kris over at Stitch's Playground is running the Bloggest Loser. Think the Biggest Loser via a blog. I need to get back on track with losing weight again and I think this will give me the motivation I need to get my butt in gear again. That and seeing how skinny K has gotten this summer. She looks so good. I have also started counting points again using the Weight Watchers method. You forget how easy it is to use up those points on stupid foods. I have eaten alot of carrots this week.

If you are interested in jumping on the bandwagon, go over to Kris's site and let her know. She is taking emails with your personal info in it and promises to not reveal it to any one. To help out I am going to go thru my old recipes from WW and post my favorite recipes every so often. I am a picky eater so if I like it, it tends to be good. Here is my first easy to make and not bad tasting recipe.

Pineapple Angel Food Cake

1 box angel food cake mix
1 20oz can of crushed pineapple
Mix together - do not drain pineapple or add anything else
Bake following the directions on the box. I like making in a 9 x 13 pan but you can make in a regular angel food cake pan if you have one
Eat! I love it cuz it is simple to make, good tasting and fat free. If you want, you can add a dollop of fat free cool whip on top.

Thanks Kris for doing this. I look forward to having some good results.

Not mush else to say for today... Happy Friday everyone!!

The New Guy

To start with.. hubby did not ride on Sat. Two reasons. 1. It has been over a month since he got on his bike 2. His back/leg/cyatic nerve is bothering him and he couldn't ride and he still won't go to the doctor.

It has been about a month since I got a new boss. I have to say that this is the first time in a long time that I have reported to a man. It is different. My last male boss killed himself by setting himself on fire back in July. Scary, eh?

So today, I am sitting in my boss's office for our weekly meeting. I like this time because we get a chance to sit down and talk about stuff with out interruptions. We normally will block out an hour but it has been known to go for 3 hours! So, anyway... we are sitting there chatting and all of a sudden I hear this noise... not quite sure what it was... it was followed by a man kinda moaning and saying how good that felt and he can't believe how much better he feels. I look over at my boss and he smiles and says, "yeah, I get this quite a bit. My air vents are connected with the men's room and I can hear everything that goes on in there". Lovely!! I almost wanted to get up and stand outside the men's room to see who was doing the talking. I am pretty sure that I would just bust out laughing when he walked out. My boss said that there is one guy who tends to sing while he is taking a dump. Must be to cover up the splashing as the turds hit the water.... whatever..... All I have to say is that the women's room is quiet. No singing or moaning going on in there (or at least when I am in there).

What about you guys?? Any strange work bathrooms stories??

Is your Life like a Soundtrack??

I am stealing this from Garrett's site cuz I have nothing better to post for today..

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?

So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...
7. Add senseless commentary to each song

Opening Credits: The Longest Time - Billy Joel - interesting way to start out... does this mean it will be a long movie??
Waking Up: 14 Years - Guns n' Roses - must be if it is taking me 14 years to wake up...
First Day At School: This Everyday Love - Rascal Flatts - ok, whatever
Falling In Love: Mama's Fool - Tesla - that says it all...
Fight Song: Come Sail Away - Styx - no comment
Breaking Up: Life's Been Good - Joe Walsh - must have been a good break up, eh?
Prom: I've Got Lightning - David Bowie - no comment
Life's OK: Get this Party Started - Pink - now we are gettin' someplace....
Mental Breakdown: Like I Care - Helmet - that workin'
Driving: Say I - Creed - whatever...
Flashback: Choking - Hayden - wonder what I am choking on??
Getting Back Together: US Blues - Greateful Dead - another whatever...
Wedding: For Ladies Only - Steppenwolf - ain't the wedding always about the bride?
Birth of Child: Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp - great song, not much to do with giving birth
Final Battle: Never Take the Place of - Goo Goo Dolls - kinda fits
Death Scene: Surfer's Stomp - The Mar-Kets - must have drown
Funeral Song: Crazy Ones - John Mellencamp - I hope that poeple say I am a bit crazy when I die...
End Credits: She's the One - Bruce Springsteen - kinda interesting... I must have been someone 'the one'.

Goes to show you the variety of stuff on my iPod.

What does your soundtrack look like??

We Survived

The Beer ride was a smashing success. We had lots of fun. My ass is sore today tho. I was a bit upset that I still had to walk those two big fucking hills again but I did make it up the third hill! That is a victory. I also had an issue with my bike where I could not get it to shift into my little ring. That would have really helped me get up those hills. I was going to have the sag support look at it but figured I would take it back to Wheel and have them look at it. I can do that on Tuesday. Or if I feel like it maybe ride it out there tomorrow.

We started out the morning by getting caught in some nasty traffic not once but twice. The bypass was at almost a complete stop. So we go off the freeway and took side streets to get on out in Brookfield. The we drive about 10 minutes and come upon another accident. This one was like 6 cars all heading to Madison for the Badger game. Ruined the day for them.

So by time we got out there it was after 10. We got ready quickly and headed out by about 10:30ish or so. Made it to the first rest stop at the Trek factory in about 45 minutes. It was cool to go thru the showroom area and see the bike that Lance used to win the Tour de France with. Those bikes are sweet. It was kinda amusing to see the time trial bike that Greg LeMond used and see that they used cardboard in the back wheel to make it more aerodynamic. I would have thought it would be a bit stronger more durable material than cardboard.

It was at that point that K and C split off for the 66 mile route and P and I went the route for 25 miles. It was a nice ride until we got to those fucking hills. I swear that some day I am going to drive out there and ride up and down those hills for practice.

P and I got back to the brewery about 1pm. We did the ride in 1:52. That was just riding time It didn't count in the 40 minutes we used at the rest stops. Not too shabby. I met up with a guy from work who rode the 42 mile route and we ate, drank and listened to music. K and C got back about 4:30. They brought with them their new friend, Joe. He was a nice guy from IL that was riding alone and he hung out with us for awhile. We drank, talked and listened to music. C was a riot. You all think I talk alot when I get drunk. Wait till C gets going. Puts me to shame!

I left my camera in P's truck so will have to retrieve that before I can get some pictures posted. One of them is how to get rid of the hiccups. It worked too!

All in all it was a great day with great friends. The weather was beautiful, the food good and the company even better. If anyone is interested the date for next year's ride is Oct 6th. Hope to see you there.

Beer Ride

Tomorrow is the beer ride (no we don't ride and drink). I love this ride not so much that the ride itself is fun (not bad but a couple of killer hills) but for the fun we have afterward. It is sponsored by a brewery, Tyranena. Need I say more. They have good food and some very delish beers to try. I prefer the Three Beaches Honey Blonde. There are a couple of bands that round out the fun-filled day with some good friends. K and her sis, C are doing the 66 mile route while hubby, P and I are only doing the 25 mile route. We should get back to the brewery in time to catch the second half of the Badger game. I will remember to take my camera and take some pics.

So in preparation for tomorrow's ride, I got out this morning and got a nice ride in. I did about 20 miles. I rode out to my parents house because I did not have electrical tape to tape the cork on my handlebars up. It was coming up at the one end. It was a nice ride with only a couple of spots that were icky. The town is finally doing construction on an intersection that has had several fatal accidents over the last 10 years or so. (fyi... hwy 38 and 7 mile rd) and the road is all tore up and a section is gravel. I had to carry my bike over a 200 ft section until I could get back on to pavement. It was nice that the flag people closed both sides of the road for me so I could get thru :) Thanks guys!

That's about all for today. Have a good weekend everyone!

What is this World Coming To

Over the past week there have been several tragedies that just leaving you wonder what this world is coming to. And makes me very glad that we don't have kids.

There have been three school shootings (one of them about 2 hours from here). The one in PA is so tragic as these little girls were killed execution style and you know that the guy was planning on something else as he brought stuff to tie the kids up with and some KY jelly. That combination is usually not a good sign.

A 21 year old drunk driver gets on the freeway driving the wrong way and hit a girl head-on killing her.

A star athlete falls into the Mississippi river and drowns. His blood alcohol level was .32! and yea that is correct. More than 4 times the legal limit.

On to something more pleasant....

Not sooo bad

Well, the furnace guy just left. Turns out it was the pressure switch that was bad and not the igniter. The hose that drains from the air conditioner was plugged and the water would back up into the furnace and it rusted out the pressure switch. He showed me how to clean the hose out and replaced the switch. 214 bucks later.... he left.

I have to say that it was not as expensive as I was thinking it would be. The part itself was 143 bucks so that is where the cost came in.

Just a Bunch of Stuff

The last few days when getting off the the freeway, it has been a mess. When you turn left off from the off ramp on to Rawson Ave going east there is road construction. The first sign you see says 'two left lanes closed ahead'. So like you should do, everyone moves into the far right lane.

Good right?? Wrong!! It is the right lane that is closed first. So now everyone is trying to move back into the left lanes. Today there happened to be an accident that was blocking the left lane so now you have both outside lanes trying to move into the center lane. What a mess that was. It took over 10 minutes to get thru a section that is about a mile long. GRRRRR!!!

I want to send out a shout out to the Blonde. She was in a serious car accident a little over a week ago. She is still in the hospital. Hope you get better soon.

Talked to my sister earlier in the week. My niece, C, was nominated to be a student ambassador. This means that if selected she has the opportunity to spend a month in Italy and Greece next summer. It is a great honor but the catch is that she needs to come up with about 6 grand for the trip. So now she is thinking of all these ways to raise the money. She got pissed at me when I told her the most obvious one (ok, at least it was obvious to me) I told her how about getting a part time job. She only works part time now as a waitress. She gave me this bullshit about not having the time. Well, if she would get her ass out of bed before 11 am, maybe she could find the time. My niece, C, who is now 12, is the one who gets up on her own, gets ready for school and gets the two little ones up and ready for school (they are 4 and 5). For being 12, my sister puts way to much responsibility on her shoulders. She should be having fun. Oh well... as long as she does not rope me in to helping out, I don't really care.

Thursday was Boomer's birthday. He was 1. Our little boy is growing up. We started working with him and training him on using the Invisible Fence. We had it installed 3 years ago and it works great for Rufus and Riley. You have to mark where the fence is with flags. Kinda like the ones Digger's Hotline uses to mark your yard. So we have about 100 flags outlining the perimeter of our yard. Right now, we have the collar just beeping. When the collar beeps we pull him back from the flags. The next step is to introduce the shock. Don't worry, it is not a strong shock. More like a strong static electricity shock that you get in the winter. It startles them more than hurts them.

That about all for now. Have a good weekend everyone!!

Not a Good Sign

When we got up this morning, the house was cold. Temp was hovering right around 62. Told hubby, guess it is time to turn the furnace on. He said yeah, guess so.

Fast forward to 5pm. I get home think to myself, "Self, it's kinda chilly in here. Have to turn the furnace on." I have a parrot that doe not care for the chilly temps.

So I walk over to the thermostat and flip the switch to Heat. Go grab the dogs from their crates and head outside. 15 minutes later come back in to the house and think, damn, still chilly in here. And that's strange normally when turning the furnace on for the first time in 8 months you expect it to kinda smell dusty, musty. No smell. I go over to the register and put my hand in front of it. Nothing. Ok, walk over to the thermostat and check to see what it is set to. Thinking that we had it turned down so low that it did not kick in. Bumped up the temp to 70. Still nothing. SHIT!!

I promptly get on the phone with my dad. He asks me some questions and thinks it may be the igniter. The good news is that lucky for me he is handy and that he said he will come over and take a look at it. Hopefully, it is something that he can fix. If not there goes a nice chunk of change to have that fixed on a Saturday.

I'll post more details as they become known.

A Pile of Crap!

This afternoon, it was really nice out so I went for a ride on my bike. Today's route is what I call county line loop. I ride to the county line and back around. It is a short ride only 11.5 miles but a nice ride. Lots of people out on the bike path.

Today's challenge was not avoiding people but poop. Both dog and horse. Along County Line road there are a couple of bridle paths where folks can ride their horses. Now when I was in high school, I used to ride horses and show them, so I know that you cannot always control when your horse is going to poop. But you can clean it up if it is on the path. Same thing for dog owners. I am very anal (ha, I said anal:) about making sure that I pick up our dog's poop, I just wish that others were as well. I came along a section of road that I literally had to swerve to avoid 2 horse and 2 dog piles. All within about a 100 foot section. I don't even care if you don't pick it up and dispose of it properly. Just get it off the path so that I don't have to ride my bike thru it.

Well now for sports. Badgers lost and the Packers won. Badgers kept it close in the first half. They will be ok this season, I think. We will have to get a group together and go out for the game if they ever play a game later than 11am. Sloppy play for both teams. At least we know that the Packers will not have a winless season. It will be a bad season but not winless.

Nice They Tell Us

Yesterday, we get a call from hubby's sister. Now some background info on this situation. Since hubby's mom died about 3 years ago, we have had very little contact with the rest of his family. His sister tends to be rather high drama people and is rather exhausting to be around. Last Christmas when his brother and family that live out east were home no one even bothered to call us and let us know that they were home. It is fine by me. I think that this is a decision that hubby needs to make on what kind of contact, if any, he has with his family. but anyway, back to my story...

Apparently, hubby's older brother, C, is now in Bagdad, Iraq. He works for the NSA (National Security Agency). He left on Sept 2nd and will be there until Jan 7th. We just found out he is there yesterday. I am soooo glad that someone in the family decided to tell us he was there. She wanted to give us his email address and asked us to write him from time to time as he has alot of free time on his hands. He is working at one of Saddam Hussein's palaces that was turned into a US military compound. Sounds like it is some really nice digs. He works 7 days a week and 12 hour days. Because he is a civilian, he can not leave the compound. I don't quite know why but assume that it is for his safety. Sis told me that he is getting paid bookoo bucks for being there for the 6 months. Like I said before, I am so glad that they told us that he is there... would have hated for something to happen and then find out that he is there.... oh well...

Catching you up

I know that if I want to have people come and visit my site, I will actually have to post more often than once a week. I am going to try and post with more frequency. I have lots to say but little time to write.

Let's start off with a bit of a recap.

Last weekend hubby was out of town for the Packer game with some friends. My original plans had me camping with the gang but due to lack of a dog sitter (my parents were out of town as well), I was home alone for the weekend. That was ok with me. It sounds like from Aleta and StB that I missed the blood bath from the mosquitos. I had to take the boys to the groomer and wanted to get stuff done around the house.

I also got some time in to ride. It was nice out for most of the weekend. On Sunday, K and her sister and I rode in the "Wine ride" in Cedarburg. It was a nice ride that started out a bit rough. I am hoping that K will email the pics she took (hint, hint). I will then post them for your viewing pleasure. We got no more than 2 minutes from the parking lots of the school where we started and the skies open up with rain. We took refuge under a big tree along the street and waited it out. Luckily, it only lasted a few minutes. Then we proceeded to ride on the wet streets. My ass and feet were all wet from the road spray. Thanks god, it was warm out or the rest of the ride would have been miserable. I rode about 15 miles with K and C, they then split off to ride the 60 mile route.

I think it may have been a first, K did not get lost on an organized ride. Have to remember that one for the record books. I rode the 30 mile route and finished it with a total riding time or 2:15. I was happy with that. I had a total time of 2:49 but that included about at least 10 minutes at the last rest stop getting by derailleur adjusted after I dropped my chain going up a big hill. That was a pain in the butt. But I did learn how to adjust it on the fly now. There were a couple of big hills that I was very proud that I made up. Very slowly but I made it. I am now looking forward to the Beer ride in a couple of weeks. There were two hills that last year I had to walk up them. I am hoping that with better conditioning and a bike that is almost 10 lbs lighter I can make it up the hills.

Work has been getting better. Our new boss is ok. He has alot of grand ideas but we are slowly bringing him back to the real world. I seen my old boss this morning and she looks so much better. I guess less stress will do that to you.

What a week it was...

The week that went from bad to worse. It was all work related and not personally.

It started out on Tuesday that everything decides to take a dump. We had a processor board go bad on our server. We worked with the vendors to get it replaced, that went smooth. Where the shit hits the fan is that one person, who we call 'Endora' as in the witch from Bewitched (this person is a bitch, with a capital B). She sends me an email asking if a page had gone out on the server going down and needing a new board. I reply back that "no, a page did not go out". I had already checked with my boss's boss to see if she thought a page should go out. She said no. Well then, Endora replies back that normally a page is sent out and when did the process change and why wasn't she informed. My boss replied back to her the next day saying that nothing has changed, and since the ticket remained a low priority, the process (Endora's group) dictates that no page is needed. Endora has been a pain in everyone's ass for the last few years. At one time I reported to her and was soooo happy when I moved to another team. I will save that story for another time.

On Thursday, my boss calls a team meeting. Nothing surprising here as we got a new team member and my boss and I had talked about some changes that she wanted to make on the team in regards to another person. So we get into the meeting room and we are all connected by audio (as one person works in St. Paul). My boss's boss is also involved. Nothing new there as we figured that this was her introduction to our new team member. My boss starts out by saying that every so often people need a change as they get in a job that after awhile is no longer right for them. Maybe they are getting bored, tired or burned out.

Then she drops the bomb. Effective immediately, she is no longer our boss and another person, S. is taking over. WHAT?!?!. I was so totally blown away by this. I was not expecting this at all. I was all prepared for her to announce the other change that she had been talking about but not this. I am sitting there listening to everyone talk and the next thing I know I have tears streaming down my face. SHIT, what a wuss am I?? I was just so totally blown away by this that I was not prepared. I really like my boss and have worked for her for most of the last 6 years. She treats me very well and has really pushed me to grow professionally. am doing things that I would have never thought possible. The new guy is ok, but the scary part is that you never know what will happen.

I know that part of the reason that this occurred is because my boss and Endora do not get along at all. Over the last couple of months it has been getting worse again. I know that this has had an impact on my boss's health as she has a chronic condition that being under stress does not help. I hope that the new guy, S, can keep Endora in line. We will be sitting down this next week to go over some stuff, so we can talk about it then.

Thursday, was our wedding anniversary. 15 years. Who can believe it?? It is hard to believe that we have been married that long and that no one is dead yet. The time has really gone by fast, and for the most part it has been good. We really did not do much to celebrate, went out to eat on Saturday. We got new bikes earlier in the year and that was our presents for each other for birthday's and anniversary this year. Plus I really did not need any new jewelry. Hard to believe that one, eh?? Me turn down big, shiny diamonds....

Long Post... not much to say

The long weekend is over and summer has unofficially ended. Where did the time go?? It seems like it was jut last week that we were looking forward to the first camping trip of the season and now it is almost time for the last one of the season.

Hubby and I did not do much this weekend. He got his bike back late last week (it is all better now and he has learned not to mess with it if he doesn't know what he is doing.) We did a bit of riding. My legs are tired. I'm glad that I took today off.

Today is Boomer's second day without the dog sitters coming over. He did really good. No messes in his crate. I was so proud of him! Let's hope that he can keep it up.

On Sunday, hubby and I went to the grocery store. Pick-n-Save is the local joint. We are wandering around and hubby notices a guy who is about 45-50 ish. Normal looking (meaning he did not appear to be mentally challenged). As I turn around to look at him, I almost scream with laughter. The guy is wearing tan shorts. They are a bit tooo short as his dark blue boxers are sticking out of the legs by about 3-4 inches. They are also hiked up in the middle. Oh Boy!! What a sight. Did he not notice that when he put them on?? Was there no one at home to tell him?? Guys, weigh in on this... do you look in a mirror before you leave the house to make sure nothing is hanging out?? I know I do. All I can say is that I am glad it was his underwear and not his package.

On Monday, I put our old hybrid bikes out on Wheel & Sprocket's free classified site. In less than one day, I had 4 emails about them. I was shocked. The guy is coming out on Friday to pick them up. I had kinda put them up on a whim to see if we got any takers on them. We probably would not use those bikes again and figured why not get them out of the basement and make a spot of extra cash. When hubby brought them up from the basement for me on Monday, so I could take some pictures, I could not believe how big and bulky they were. My road bike (the pink streak) weighs like 14 lbs (Riley weighs 13 lbs). My old bike had to be double that. ugghhh... no wonder is was so hard getting up that hill for the beer ride last year.

Speaking of which, if anyone is interested... come join us for the beer ride. Here is more info.... You can come out for the food, music and beer if you don't want to ride. We are riding with P & K and K's sister. Hubby and I will only do the 25 mile ride. I need to save my body for the drinking that will follow. Gotta love the one called Spank Me Baby! Barley Wine Ale

I am trying to figure out why gas has dropped like .50 in the last month. It seems like every day, I come home from work and drive by the bevy of gas stations to find that it has dropped another 3-4 cents. Today is was down to 2.68 in Brookfield. I figured it out and so far this year we have spent over 3800 in gas. How crazy is that??

And You Thought Your Job Was Bad

At least you don't work for Radio Shack. Here is a blurb I stole from JSOnline.com

RadioShack uses e-mail to fire 400 workers

RadioShack Corp. notified about 400 workers by e-mail that they were being dismissed immediately as part of planned job cuts. Employees at the Fort Worth headquarters got messages saying: "The work force reduction notification is currently in progress. Unfortunately your position is one that has been eliminated."

If I got one of those emails, I would go ballistic. How totally rude.

Some of you may remember a place I worked for that worked really closely with hubby's former company. When the place went under, the owner had promised us that "he would take care of us". The three of us trusted him. When it came down to the final days, he was out of town on vacation. The second in command called us and asked us to mail the keys to the building and car back to him. WTF?!?! I don't think so, you can come up here and get them. It was only in northern IL. About 90 minutes away. Then he had the nerve to say he couldn't give us any severance, (he finally relented on that after the threat of litigation). In the end they also screwed one of the other guys over with his unemployment. I am still using the Post-it and legal pads some 7 years later. I think of that as my own severance package.

Today was the last day that we have a dog sitter. The girls across the street have been coming over and letting the dogs out. They go back to school next week. I am so hoping that Boomer does ok. He was in his crate all day one day last week when the girls couldn't come over and he didn't make a mess. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Not much else is going on. Looking forward to the long weekend. It sucks that summer has gone by so quickly. Let's hope the fall and winter go by just as fast so that next summer comes quickly.

Some Days I Really Wonder.....

.... what my hubby is thinking. We got up early this morning and wanted to go for a long ride. Last weekend we did a route that was about 35 miles. I wanted to do the same route but I wanted to get it done early before the traffic and heat got bad.

So hubby hauls his bike outside and throws it on the trainer so he can 'work' on it. I thought that he was just going to clean the chain and lube it up. WRONG!! He has two screwdrivers and is messing with his derailleurs. This is not good folks. (For those of you who don't know him... my hubby is not at all mechanical.) I wander over there and ask what he is doing. He says that he is 'fixing' it so that his chain doesn't drop everytime he goes into his big ring. I very nicely ask him if he knows what he is doing. He says that he doesn't but it can't be too hard. Famous last words. He is tightening and loosening screws and cables and such that after a couple of minutes it is really hosed and he can't figure out what he did to mess it up. Now he can't get it to shift at all. Great..... So, I go online and try to see if a couple of sites can offer some suggestions. The same response that I got is that you should not mess with the derailleurs if you don't know what you are doing. They are usually set when the bike is assembled and very rarely need to be tweaked.

By this time, it was about 9:15 and I told him that why don't we just take it to Wheel & Sprocket and have them look at it. Before he does some serious damage. He agrees. So 80 bucks later... he can pick it up on Wednesday. The good thing is that W&S will also fix hubby's 'attempt' at truing his back wheel. It has such a wobble in it.... oh boy...

The best part of it was that I never said to hubby 'I told you so...'. Even tho' I wanted to soooo bad.

Shave and a Haircut.... Two Bits

Boomer went to the groomer yesterday for a long overdue haircut. He is 11 months old and never had a haircut, that we know of. So about 7:30 I gave him 1/2 a pill and away he went. By the time we got to the groomer (I highly recommend Fancy Paws in Cudahy... Donna is awesome) Boomer was settling very nicely into la-la land.

With Boomer being gone most of the day, I was able to get a bunch of stuff done around the house. I ironed 17 shirts (I really need to find a place that launders them by the pound), detailed the truck (vacuumed, windows, washed the inside), vacuumed the house, 4 loads of laundry, cleaned out half the fridge (threw out the tartar sauce that expired a year ago).... all this before noon.

When I get to the groomer, I don't even recognize my dog. He looked so different from the dog I dropped off. He was a pretty good boy too. A little nervous and head shy but not too bad.

Here is before.....

and after pic ..... he is still a bit groggy that's why his eyes are at half mast.

He now looks like a little rat dog. He must have lost about 2 lbs in fur. But he sure is a handsome little guy. His coat is so soft and shiny and he smells wonderful.

What a Week....

.... and it's only Wed.

Work has been busy. On Sunday we put in a software release, that for a change went mostly smooth. One issue that cropped up on Monday morning but we were able to correct it quickly. The best part is that we got blamed for not knowing this would happen. My boss was pissed about that. How should we have known that. If thorough testing would have been done by the process owner's subject matter experts (SME) they should have caught it. We don't know how they use the tool.

On Tuesday evening, our application went down. One of the processor boards took a dump. It took about 5 hours to fix. I was up late trying to coordinate vendors and keeping our customers in the loop.

Today was spent just trying to get the stuff done that I let slide due the release. I ended up doing some of it at home tonite. Which is ok. No one was around to bother me. Took me half the time it would have if I were in the office.

Tomorrow, Boomer goes to the groomer. You may remember that the last time he went, he was so scared he had a seizure. We got some sedatives from the vet so all should go smooth I hope. Since I am off (comp time for Sunday) I have a whole list of stuff to do. Let's see how much of it actually gets done.

Over the weekend, hubby and I upgraded our cells. I got the pink RAZR. It is go girly. But it matches my bike. I have spent the last few days playing with it. Rather fun toy. I had toyed with the thought of getting "Chocolate" but decided that since I already have an iPod, what do I need this for. It is very cool tho'.

This is for StB... check out Todd's post about how Maker's is offensive to women. Amazing all the stuff you can learn about on the internet. Damn, I have to remember to thank Al Gore for inventing it.

I got a new pair of bike shorts. They are wonderful. A nice soft chamois and lots of fluffy soft padding, right where you need it most. These are definitely an upgrade from the style from last year. Pearl Izumi makes awesome shorts and well worth the money you spend on them. I may have to go back and get a couple more pairs while they are on sale.

I'm So Tired.....

Have you ever been just so tired of everything that you want to take a vacation from life?? I swear that is how I have felt the last week. I am tired of my job. I like my job but I get so tired of dealing with the political crap and have to be nice to people. Here are the idiots I had to deal with today. and remember this is only today, folks!
1. Help! I ordered a pager three days ago (no, it was yesterday) and it still isn't here so I will now order four (yes, four) more to make sure one of them gets delivered to me. She then gets pissed when I told her that the date/time stamp says that she ordered it at 12:22 pm on 8/17 and I have now cancelled the order for the other four pagers. If I would have let the pager orders go thru she would have been pissed cuz her cost center would have been charged for 5 pagers every month.
2. A co-worker sent out an email describing the changes we are implementing this weekend in our quarterly software release. The email had a brief overview of the changes and included a 18 page powerpoint presentation that described the changes in great detail (with pictures) and "what does it mean to me" explanation. I got three emails from people saying that they wanted to know what parts of it meant. I then replied to each person detailing the changes they asked about and where in the powerpoint they could find the information. Each on of them replied that they did not know they were supposed to read the powerpoint. WTF!! Do you think I sent it so that I could take up valuable email inbox space. NO!! fuckin idiots. gggrrrr
3. The higher up mucky-muck who today, after she got the email and powerpoint, said that she did not want one of the enhancements to go into the tool, she did not know that was what it was going to do. We needed to pull it. We told her that she has been part of the emails for the last 3 months talking about the enhancement and what it will mean to her area. My boss's boss told her NO and to go F off! (p.s. those were some great flaming emails that got sent in this one!)
4. Today at 2pm we get an email from one of the process owners who was doing some training and wanted to know why something did not write an entry to a log when it did a certain action. And can we change that. Ok, they signed off on the requirements of this 2 months ago, you had two weeks for testing before you signed off that testing was what you wanted. Now less than two days you want to change it! NO fucking way!!
5. yes can you believe another idiot..... the guys who i have been working with on and off since March to clean up some of their data now sends this stupid email out about how he has no idea what I am talking about and want to make sure that every higher up mucky muck knows about what we are doing and had better be prepared to back it out if they don't like it. This is a clean up of your crappy data. We are helping your group out by making your job more efficient. Do you not get that!! grrrr.... this is also the guy (very high maintenance) who when we had a vendor doing maintenance to our paging network ask if we could have them delay it. WTF!!! No, we can't do that. They re a national vendor and we represent a mere 1.4% of their business. get a life, dude!!

Ok that covers work. Now let's cover hubby. A and J, you may have noticed we failed to show up tonite. Well, let me tell you why. Granted hubby will have a vesion that makes me out to be the bitch but oh well.... here is my story.

A calls up to see if we want to head out for a cocktail this evening. I ask hubby, he says sure. We get home I take the boys outside, change clothes and sit down to read the mail and watch a bit of tv before we take the dogs for a walk, it is raining a bit out and want to see the radar to see if I need jacket or should wait a bit and go. It is now 5:25 and it is no longer raining. I tell hubby, 'hey, come on let's go take the boys for their walk'. (this is where I made the mistake, I guess). He gets all mad and says he can't he is starting dinner (we are having corn on the grill) and why does he have to go anyway.... Ok, I am mad... He knows I don't like walking all three dogs by myself. It is hard to do. We go back and forth about this for a few minutes and I leave, talking the dogs on their walk. I am just soooo pissed at him right now. I have a ton of stuff to get done before we head out for the evening, all the while, he is sitting on his ass playing poker online. I get back and he says he is not going. I don't say a word to him. The corn is done, I eat it outside and head for my office. I'm going to stay home and make his life miserable. Yeah, I know I am being a bitch about it, but I get so tired of having to do everything around the house. His only chore is to cut the grass. Fuck that, I am not going to to a damn thing tonite. I wish that I could sit in front of the tv everynite and play poker for 5-6 hours. Most evenings I don't even sit down to relax until 8pm. And even then, during a commercial I am up doing something. A, I would have called you but you know that there is some screwy thing with the phone and our wireless router and heaven forbid, I use the phone. I can't fix it cuz it will take me a couple of hours to play around with it and he can't be offline that long. I told him last weekend and then again three days ago that we needed to clean the fish tank. It has been a long time since it was cleaned and is getting to look very gross. I can't clean the whole thing because my arms are to short to reach to the bottom of the tank. He has to do it. I was then told to quit pestering him and to stop nagging him all the time. There are some days when I wish I was still single. sighhh

Sorry for the long a bitchy post but getting this out has been therapeutic. Thanks for listening :)

Time to get my Butt into Gear

The last few weeks I have been lazy. Somewhat busy but lazy. I have not been riding my bike or working out and it shows. So this week, I got off my lazy ass and got on my bike again. I have to say it felt good. It is always nice to ride along the country roads and smell the fresh cut hay (it's 2nd cut so not quite as good but still very aromatic). I am starting out slow and just going 12-13 miles or so. I would like to try and get in a longer ride this weekend. K, I hope to see you on the kraut route sometime this weekend. I need to get in shape for the beer ride in Oct and maybe, if I don't go camping, the Wine ride in Sept. Yeah, I know how sad to plan your bike rides around drinking events. We ride first then drink.

I would like to give out a few plugs to some new blogs. First off, Aleta and her blog, You Named Me After Who. She is a long time friend and this is her first foray into the world of blogging. If she blogs like she gives campfire sermons it should be rather interesting. Check her out and say hi. She promises not to be too boring.

Next up is Garrett and his blog ... and this is why God invented condoms. He is a mid twenty something guy from New York. I found his site through Kris at Stitch's Playground and found the title amusing so I had to check it out. Well worth the visit.

Last but not least.... ok, it is last and least... DJW, and his site, My Empty Glass are being removed from my site. He has once again decide to delete his blog and I told him the last time he did that I would take his link off and never put it back on. I also think he owes me some cash for this as well. Don't know why you keep doing this Dave but oh well....

Hubby and I are taking my two nieces to the IMAX theater tomorrow. To see a space movie and a sea movie. Double feature. Should be a good time. The girls always have fun and we go out for pizza afterwards. A few weeks ago we took them to the Brewers game and they had a blast. Once they figured out that they could be a bit loud and crazy. S who is 5 was having fun doing her 'crazy dances' so that they would show her on the scoreboard. They never did but she still had fun. Ahhh to be young again....

Tonite on RockStar: SuperNova they finally got rid of Zayda. It was about time. She was a terrible singer and an even worse dresser. Man the outfits that she came up with. Yikes!! Scary, I tell you. I want to go out and download some of the songs from the last few weeks shows. Last nite was a mellow kind of nite and a few people really stood out. Ryan did Phil Collins "In the Air Tonight", Toby (damn, he is hot!) played "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel and Dilana did "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.

Party, Party, Party

Yesterday, was our annual block party. We have it in the hollow that was supposed to be a 'pond' but never held water. Yeah, smart developers eh?? The hollow is an area that is behind about 10 houses and is a nice area for the kids to play out of traffic.

The festivities started about 1pm. It was a nice sunny day. Some of the adults set up a huge 200 foot piece of plastic tarp down the hill and made a huge slip and slide for the kids. Who knew that we had that many rugrats living in the area... It was fun to watch them slide down it. Some of the kids really had some speed going. I think all the adults wanted to try it but didn't want to get all wet (or hurt).

Our party is a bit nontraditional in that we have a local restaurant cater pizza. I think it has to do with the fact that the people who run it are from Italy and they like pizza. It is different and goes well later on in the evening. Everyone brings a dish to pass. Bless K's heart. She made cheesy potatoes. They were YUMMY!!!

It is always fun to catch up on the neighborhood gossip. Who's selling their house and they want what for it! Who did what?!? and so on. I have to laugh cuz there is one house who has never paid their dues. It is only 25 bucks a year. Not breaking the bank. Well, over the years what should have been about 125 bucks is now almost 1500. They just put their house up for sale. One of our neighbors is an attorney and we work with her to file a lien against the property. The fact that they want 349,000 for the house is interesting. Way overpriced for the area and type of house. Should be interesting to see what happens with that.

Also got the scoop on the neighbors who built pools. First J put in her pool. Two weeks later N&A put one in and never fail to let everyone know that it is bigger than J's. And if I had to hear one more time that N lost 70 lbs (good for him) and he ate soo much yesterday that he is now at 179 or how he just wants to race his Mustang down the block, I was going to scream. Oy vay!

After dark, we played poker and had a bonfire. That was nice. We finally got home about 2:30 this morning and went to sleep with the owls cooing in the backyard. I had not heard them for quite awhile. I'm glad their back.

I also got some interesting news at work that I will be able to share shortly. Not sure if anyone from work reads this or not (I don't think so, but you never know) so don't want to chance it. It is nothing bad or really good for me but will make my job harder for a bit but then really nice again. I hope it pans out!!

Have a good week everyone.

I'm a Good Driver

Today's post is going to be about something that has been irritating me for quite a wile now. No, It is not my hubby or work, those are good guesses... Today's topic is bad drivers.

It seems like people are getting worse with their driving. I don't know what people are thinking... or maybe that's the case they aren't thinking.

Bad Driver #1....My biggest complaint is people driving while talking on the phone. I don't know how many times I get behind or next to someone who can't maintain their speed or lane because they are too busy yakking on the phone. Coming home tonite was the worst. I had some stupid idiot in a mini-van (that'll be the next thing I hate) literally driving down the middle of two lanes on 45 S. There were a few time that if I would have been the person driving next to him, I would have held my line and let him ram me. It would be my luck that the idiot has no insurance and then I would be screwed. Traffic was only going between 30-40mph so I am not sure what was so hard about driving in a straight line.

Bad driver #2.... the guy who is merging on the freeway and races to get ahead of everyone else. Why can't you just drive the same speed as others and merge in gracefully into traffic instead of trying to get one more car ahead and then making everyone stop to let you in. I don't know how many times I have seen people driving on the shoulder of the road tying to inch their way in after the merging lane has gone away. I wish that the Road Warrior feature was still in the local paper. He always is offering some interesting tidbits about the rules of the road. One of them is that current traffic does not have to let merging traffic in. So there!!

Bad driver #3.... not using your turn signal. I will not let you in if you are not using your signal to tell me what you want to do. Chances are they are also bad driver #1 and 2. I have had people flip me off cuz I won't let them merge. Too freakin' bad. The auto industry put turn signals on your vehicle for a reason, and it wasn't to hang your stupid little keychainy thing from. USE THEM!!

Bad Driver #4..... Driving a mini-van. This seems to be a given. If you are driving a minivan, you will drive like an idiot. You look like a dork driving your minivan. Get a real car or truck. You seems to think that this gives you a license to drive slow (in the left lane) and not obey the rules of the road.

Bad driver #5.... Driving slow in the left lane. If I am behind you and can see, or should I say cannot the see the color of the car in front of you because it is now just a little spot on the horizon, you are driving to slow to be in the left lane. Move your ass outta my lane. One caveat to this is if traffic is only going 30 mph get off of my ass. You ain't going no where. No one is moving. You will just have to wait it out.

My last thing is a thing is a story about something so crazy I just can't believe it happened. Last week I am driving east on Capitol dr and 124th st. It is three lanes plus two left turn lanes. The light is red. I am in the far right lane. The cars in the left and middle lanes start going once the left turn signal turns green. WTF?? There were two cars in each lane that burned the red light. My theory is that the second cars were not even paying attention except to notice that the person in front of them went so it must be ok for them to go. They are damn lucky they did not get nailed by traffic turning left from the opposite direction.

Ok, enough ranting....

I'm Still Here

Hi all.... I know it hs been awhile again. I guess I am just getting lazy about posting and have been busy

We went camping last weekend. It was a fun time. If you read Gambino's blog, you will know that we went to Mustard fest. It was a fun(?!?!) time. Got to see the Weinermobile and eat a free hot dog. Hubby won a couple of jars of mustard in the Mustard ring toss. Which we promptly gave to my parents for dog sitting. What sucked is that it rained on Sunday morning and we had to put everything away wet. Which when we got back to my parents we had to set the camper all back up again so it could dry out. We finally got around to going over there tonite to put it away. Had to as my parents are heading out of town for the weekend and didn't want the camper sitting in their driveway. Oh yeah, after Mustard Fest went to Lucky's bar in Barneveld and I won 100 bucks on a pull tab. That was cool.

Other than that not much else has been going on. I am almost (finally) done restoring my pc. I am working on getting my iPod back to normal. I should say getting my library back to normal. What a royal pain in the butt.

Work has been a pain. We have a software release scheduled for the 20th. Yesterday, one of the process owners came to us with a huge change in requirements and wanted to implement it. Considering that they signed off on the requirements 2 months ago we said no. Either it goes in as you have been testing for the last two weeks or we pull it. Well, it was pulled. I am ok with that as it was something I was not very comfortable with and now the release has been cut in half.

This weekend we have our annual neighborhood block party. It should be fun. It is where our 25 bucks a year goes for. Yeah, I know we get off cheap for homeowner's association dues. It basically goes towards the party, cutting the grass by the pond and insurance on the pond.

I'm Still Here....

Hi all... Yes, I am still alive and kicking. I know if has been awhile since my last port. I was going to post earlier this week and was making some updates to my pc when, due to my own fault and carelessness, I was cleaning up my registry and deleted a wrong key and BAM, took out my whole freakin' pc. The good news, installing the programs seems to bring everything back. I did not lose data. The bad news I did not back up my address book and lost it! That pissed me off. I know no one emails address so I thankfully a couple of people have sent me emails in the past week that I can slowly build it back up. The part that is taking so freakin' long is trying to bring back my iPod without having to redo the whole thing. The sucky part of this is that when you have 27.9 gb of music (6857 songs), it takes a looonnnggg time to back that up. So what did I do, you ask. Logged into vpn and am in the process of downloading everything to my network drive at work. Hey, they have the space. Where else can I get 30 gb of space?? I will hopefully be able to delete it in the next day or so. I think that I will jut have to chunk it out a bit. This is just a slow process as the network is slow....

I should have more for you all in the next few days.

Ciao!!

On Vacation

So last weekend was my family reunion. We went to Appleton. Nice town. We left on Friday afternoon. It was hot up there. By mid afternoon it was in the upper 90's. After we got settled in, hubby and I hit the pool to do some swimming. It was nice as at that time we were the only two in the pool. We took advantage of that. After that we went to dinner with my parent and aunt and uncle. We had a good time.

Saturday dawned smokin' hot again. We went to the park where the reunion was held. There were about 80 people who attending this year. It was nice to see people who you only see at the reunions or funerals. If there wouldn't been a nice breeze out, I think we would have had several people go down from the heat.

After the reunion, we went back to the hotel. It was nice cuz almost everyone was staying at the same place. When we got to the pool, it was packed. So little by little, we waited for them to leave and took over their spots. After a couple of hours we had at least 50 people from our group in the pool. It was a blast. We had fun playing in the water with the kids. Throwing them, chicken fights, and the grand old game of "Marco Polo". The best part was after we had ordered some pizzas, hubby decide that he was done swimming so he changed back into street clothes. Yeah, that lasted all of 3 minutes. The first time he got up to get a beer, BAM! Kevin pushed him in the pool. Too funny. So he said WTF, and just stayed in the pool.

On Sunday, hubby and I left early and heading north to Keshena. We stopped for breakfast at the greatest restaurant for breakfast and then heading to the casino. We signed up the their weekly poker tourney. There were 61 people registered. Hubby went out in the mid 30's. I lasted a bit longer. Had a couple of good hands but was card dead for most of the day.It finally came to a point where I had to make a move. I got pocket 4's in late position. I raised 3 times the big blind. Another guy, who had checked went all in. I was pot committed and need to make a move, so I called. He had pocket A's. DAMN! Flop come A x x. Shit now I am really screwed. Turn comes the last A. Oh well. I went out at 18th. I did not feel bad losing to quad A's. I think I played ok, but too tight in the beginning. It was unlimited rebuys for the first two blind levels and after that you could add on. Some people rebought several times.

We headed home on Monday, but first made a stop for breakfast. Like we could not stop at the greatest restaurant on our way home. We had decided to leave rather early as there were some bad storms predicted for the area later on. I am sooooo glad we did. We were about 2 hours behind the mess that hit Sheboygan. We would have been stuck on the freeway forever.

The boys, or more specifically, Boomer was a beast most of the weekend and poor E will never dog sit again. I feel so bad that E had a rough time. The scary part is that Boomer is so much better than he was a month ago but is still bad. This housebreaking thing has been harder than with the other two. Granted they were babies and not 10 months old. One of the things I need to do today it clean the carpets.

This weekend has us heading off to another camping excursion. This time it is Yellowstone State Park. No not the one with the geyser but the one near Iowa. This one is a 3 niter. It should be fun. Look for some pictures and an update early next week.

It sucks that my vacation is half over. I could use another week, at least. Oh well....
