Fly like an Eagle
Saturday, was round two of our poker tourney. I finished in 8th place this week. I played ok I thought but just didn't hit anything when I needed to. After that we played a cash game and I took 2nd. I was happy with that. Payed for my day. I got to meet Milton, the Yorkie Maltese, who was sooo cute. He was only 4 months old and so sweet. Unlike Boomer he didn't bark. That must be the Maltese in him.
Today, I did stuff around the house. Went to the freak show, I mean grocery store. I should know better than to go at 11 am on Sunday. I hit the after church crowd. Just because it is after Easter does not mean that you can wear your white sandaly type shoes with your black nylons. I wish I could have taken a picture of that. It was scary.
It sounds like Scott is having a good time on his trip in Tibet. I hope that he was able to avoid the protests and violence. Can't wait to see the pics when you get back.
The next few days are supposed to be cold and rainy. I just wish that it would warm up enough to not have to wear gloves and a hat when I walk the dogs. The plus side is that I was able to get caught up on my tv watching. My dvr list is empty. YEAH!!!
Have a good week everyone....

Drink one gallon of milk, and then ride on a roller coaster
----OR----
ride on a roller coaster behind someone who drank a gallon of milk?
Well, since I hate milk, I have to go with riding behind someone. Let's hope that the person is not a hurler.

Demolition Part 2
I primed and painted over the old yellow wall so I did not have to look at that color ever again in my bathroom. We then put the vanity, vanity top and sink and new faucet in. It went in pretty smooth. The hardest part was getting the dumb drain plug thingy in. Pain in the butt trying to line it up in a small space.
Next came the paint on the walls. I picked out a color called "Ocean Sighs". It reminded me of a tropical feeling. We got the medicine cabinet in and called it a day.
Next week, the tile guy (thanks for the great recommendation, A) will be putting in the travertine floor and repairing the tile around the medicine cabinet. My dad will then be putting in the new toilet and we are done. I decided to have the tub reglazed instead of replaced or one of the bathfitter things. That will have to wait a bit as the budget is now almost empty. That and I need to find a plumber who will replace the valve and pipes in the wall behind the shower. They will have to go in thru the hall closet, which is fine, but it is a task that will take several hours to complete and my dad wants nothing to do with it as the pipes and all will need to be replaced from the basement up. This could end up being very pricey. Anyone know a good plumber who is willing to work on the side for cheap??
I still need to get some sort of shower curtain and a window covering. I am thinking of either a white roman shade type of window treatment or maybe a bamboo blinds. Something to keep with the tropical feeling. Any ideas??
My cold is getting much better. A couple of days staying low key and some Nyquil seems to have done the trick. I hope that it is gone for good. This was starting to get ridiculous.

Have to put to sleep five puppies you just got
----OR----
a dog you've had for a year??
I would have to go with the five puppies. I would have less of an emotional attachment to them. After a year, it would be heartbreaking. You all know how much my dogs mean to me.

Happy Easter
I am back being sick again. It is getting better today but still not good. It started last week with a sore throat and by Friday was hitting me pretty well. Last night, I took a couple of cold pills and went to bed about 11pm. (I had a wild ass dream that I'll have to share with you later. I should have known better than to take 2 cold pills). I woke up this morning about 9:45 am. I did get up about 5:30am to let the dogs out. Even Rufus decided to get up and go out. I skipped going to my parents and just went to Home Depot to pick up some electrical stuff for my dad. It was nice enough out to walk the boys a bit and then I layed in a big pile on the couch, snuggling with the dogs, watched 10 Years Younger marathon on TLC and dozed on and off. I figured that I better get up for now or I won't sleep tonight.
I know it has been awhile but here is the latest....

For the rest of your life, choose the same drink and the same meal to ingest every time you eat
----OR----
have someone else always choose what you eat??
Ok, this is a no brainer... for those of you who know me, know that I tend to be a bit strange with my eating choices. I will eat the same thing every day that I choose. It would be my luck that someone would make me eat a hamburger... and that would not be a good thing.
Have a good week everyone :)

Gone To A Farm
Well, the Onion has one upped that. The Packers are saying that they gave Brett Favre to a nice farm family somewhere. He didn't just retire to Mississippi somewhere. Ted Thompson and Coach McCarthy sent him off to live his days out where there are no injuries or winters. You can read all the details here.
I am sooo glad that the Onion tells the story as it really is. hehehe

An Irish Legend
An Irishman moves into a tiny village in County Kerry, walks into the pub and promptly orders three beers. The bartender raises his eyebrows, but serves the man three beers, which he drinks quietly at a table-- alone. An hour later, the man has finished the three beers and orders three more.
This happens yet again. The next evening the man again orders and drinks three beers at a time, several times.
Soon the entire town is whispering about the "Man Who Orders Three Beers."
Finally, a week later, the bartender broaches the subject on behalf of the town. "I don't mean to pry, but folks around here are wondering why you always order three beers?"
'Tis odd, isn't it?" the man replies. "You see, I have two brothers, and one went to America and the other to Australia. We promised each other that we would always order an extra two beers whenever we drank... as a way of keeping up the family bond."
The bartender and the whole town are pleased with this answer, and soon the "Man Who Orders Three Beers" becomes a local celebrity and source of pride to the village--even to the extent that out-of-towners will come to watch him drink.
Then, one day, the man comes in and orders only two beers. The bartender pours them with a heavy heart. This continues for the rest of the evening: he orders only two beers. Word flies around town. Prayers are offered for the soul of one of the brothers.
The next day the bartender says to the man, "Folks around here, myself first of all, want to offer condolences to you on the death of your brother. You know, the two beers and all...."
The man ponders this for a moment, then replies, "You'll be happy to hear that my two brothers are alive and well. It's just that I, myself, have decided to give up drinking for Lent."

First off, I'm glad that our camping trips don't have stunts like this. Second, I have to go with eating the tail. I would have a better chance at survival.

Demolition Phase 1
Here is where the old medicine cabinet was. I had the mirrored doors from the old one in there so I could see when getting ready for the day.
Here is the rest of the vanity and toilet. Notice the lovely yellow color and ugly floor tiles. Gotta love 1958 decorator colors.
Saturday was spent running errands.... after shoveling almost 5 inches of fluffy snow. Gotta love living only 3 blocks from the lake. I had to pick out paint for the walls, a register cover, and a vanity top/sink. It took me almost 6 hours but I can say that I am done buying stuff. Or at least I hope so.
I was supposed to go play poker at a friend from work's house on Saturday nite but by time I got home I was tired and wanted nothing more than to lay on the couch and spend some snuggle time with the boys. I am bummed that I missed the first week of the poker series tho. He is running a home tourney that will run for like 10 weeks. It will pay off the top 3 spots each week and you get points based on your finish each week. After 10 weeks the top 10 will play off with the top 3 taking home cash and the winner getting a buy in to a Potawatomi tourney. Not too bad of a deal. I will have to wait to see how the person who sat in for me on Saturday did. I am really looking forward to playing in live games more often. M is a good shit and hilarious when he gets drunk.
My dad came over today and put the medicine cabinet and the new light fixture in. I have even more wonderful light in the bathroom. He had to patch the drywall and got the first coat of mud on. My job is to do the rest over the next few days. I started sanding the door frames down. Who was the crazy person who thought it would be a good idea to have metal door jambs. That explains why everything is painted.
I did take the new vanity and vanity top out of the box and set them up in the spare room. I set the faucet on top and it looks so cool. All nice and shiny and clean.I can't wait to see the completed room. It will be nice to have one room done in the house

Sick and Tired
The boys and I are adjusting to our home. Boomer has finally stopped barking every time the furnace kicks in. Which is a good thing at 3 am. Rufus still misses soon to be ex hubby and wants to sit on my lap all the time. He is good to cuddle with as he snuggles up and nice and small.
Went on Saturday with my dad to pick out bathroom stuff. I got a vanity and medicine cabinet. My dad was nice enough to pay for it as an early birthday present for me. That was so nice of him. I did not expect that at all. I ordered the faucets, towel bar, lighting fixture last nite. Today, I stopped at the tile shop and ordered my flooring for the bathroom. It is a Mojave travertine marble. It is really pretty. Have to give some big kudos to A's son. He gave me a nice price on the installation and I got a very nice discount on the tile. All to do now is get a vanity top. All I know is that I want a counter and sink 1 piece thing. Then I don't have to worry about ever caulking it. I plan on taking some before and after shots. I'll post them in the coming weeks.
I did finally get all the ice off of the driveway. No more skating rink. My dad helped me chop it all off on Sunday. There is one section that still has a pile of frozen snow on it but I can now get into the garage easily enough. Now if I only had power in the garage I could use the door opened instead of having to open it manually each time. If I could only get an electrician to call me back to come and fix it.....
Well, that's all for now.
Talk to you all later.
