Taking Ownership

I read this article the other day about how a group, The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), is suing McDonald's for unfair and deceptive marketing practices. Because they make Happy Meals.

Seriously??

Last time I checked most kids in the target Happy Meal age are maybe 3-10ish. I don't know too many kids who at that age can get to a McDonald's on their won and pay for a meal. They have to have their parents or another adult take them.

So, then, why is that adult not taking ownership of what they put in the kids mouth.

The two quotes that I found interesting were

"The nutrition group claims that using toys to entice children instills bad eating habits and puts kids at higher risk of risk of developing obesity, diabetes, or other diet-related diseases over the course of their lifetime. "

and then this one

"CSPI director Michael Jacobson acknowledged that parents bear much of the responsibility for children's eating habits"

Heloooo, McFly... Exactly.

'Nuff said.
