I was reading an article on MSNBC.com and was amazed at how many people could not answer some basic geography questions. Here is the quiz. I will post the answers in the comments.

1. Georgia. Georgia covers 57,919 square miles of land.

2. Africa. Angola is on Africa's west coast and is bordered by the South Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north, Zambia to the east and Namibia to the south.

3. Frankfort. Frankfort, the home of Kentucky State University, is the capital.

4. Asia. Mount Everest, which reaches 29,028 feet at its peak, is located in Asia.

5. Amazon. The Amazon River is the world's largest river by volume, discharging about 7 million cubic feet per second into the Atlantic Ocean.

6. Indian Ocean. The Asian tsunami, triggered by the underwater Sumatra-Andaman earthquake, originated in the Indian Ocean.

7. South Pacific. The Solomon Islands, established by Britain in the 1890s, are part of a group of islands in the South Pacific.
