Breakin' the Law, Breakin' the Law

I recently got a nasty gram in the mail from the library. Who knew that they even sent these out anymore?!?!

Yes, I know I have had the book now for almost 7 weeks but it was over 600 pages. I did finally finish it up last night. The first three weeks I had it, I wasn't much in the mood for reading anything.

So I returned it Monday morning on my way to work. When I looked online later this afternoon, I owed $2.80. Oops. I guess I have to pay it before I can check out any more books.
Good thing I only have one that I am waiting one book from there. I was 73 of 294 holds. I got a ways to go before I get the book.

Think Spring, Think Spring, Think Spring

As I type it is a balmy 6 degrees out.

Just keeping thinking that it is only 19 days and a little over 13 hours until Brewer's pitchers and catchers report for spring training. And only one month till their first game.

That must mean that warmer weather is right around the corner... right?? They aren't called the Boys of Summer for nothing??

Redneck Carnival Ride

This kinda looks fun. I thought that it would end a bit differently.

Shameless Plug

One of our fellow bloggers, Kris, of Stitch's Playground fame, is once again participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma's Team in Training triathlon. This year she is running in the Capital of Texas Olympic distance triathlon on May 25, 2009.

Yes, she may be crazy to do this in the Texas heat. At least it is not in the middle of summer. She is swimming 1.5 k (almost a mile!), 40 k (25 miles) bike ride and followed by a 10 k (6.3 miles) run.

Please help support her in reaching her goal. You can click here to reach her triathlon home page. I know that she will appreciate your support.

Ice Fishing Blonde

A blonde wanted to go ice fishing. She'd seen many books on the subject, and finally getting all the necessary tools together, she made for the ice. After positioning her comfy footstool, she started to make a circular cut in the ice.

Suddenly, from the sky, a voice boomed, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE!"

Startled, the blonde moved further down the ice, poured a thermos of cappuccino, and began to cut yet another hole.

Again from the heavens the voice bellowed, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE!"

The blonde, now worried, moved away, clear down to the opposite end of the ice. She set up her stool once more and tried again to cut her hole.

The voice came once more, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE!"

She stopped, looked skyward! and said, "IS THAT YOU LORD?"

The voice replied, "NO, THIS IS THE MANAGER OF THE HOCKEY RINK!"

Rockin' Out

Went to the Metallica concert last night. It was really good. I liked it more than I thought I would. You can read StB's review here. It was a good time had by all. I thought for sure that M was going to hit the guy in front of us with his air drum playing.

My neck, thighs and feet are still sore. My thighs and feet are sore from the boots I had on. So get your mind outta the gutter..... While they looked good, not always practical to wear 3"+ heels when trying to rock out. Neck is just sore from the head banging.

It was fun to people watch. The crowd was a mix of young people, older people and parents who brought their pre-teen kids. When I stopped at the place where I take my truck, this morning, one of the mechanics was at the show and he said he had a great time. He was in his 50's. He and his wife went with their 26 year old son and girlfriend. He said that it took them almost an hour to get out of the parking structure. Good thinking on StB's part got us street parking a few blocks away. Easy in...easy out.

I should have brought my regular camera as pictures on my BlackBerry did not turn out as well as I hoped. Enjoy the pics.

The laser show to start the concert.

The coffins had lights on them and they moved up and down during the show.

A close up of the coffins as they were moving around.

Claude

It was entertainment night at the Senior Center and over 300 seniors came to see the show.

Claude the hypnotist exclaimed: 'I'm here to put you into a trance; I intend to hypnotize each and every member of the audience.'

The excitement was almost electric as Claude withdrew a beautiful antique pocket watch from his coat 'I want you each to keep your eye on this antique watch. It's a very special watch. It's been in my family for six generations'

He began to swing the watch gently back and forth while quietly chanting, 'Watch the watch, watch the watch, and watch the watch...'

The crowd became mesmerized as the watch swayed back and forth, light gleaming off its polished surface. Hundreds of pairs of eyes followed the swaying watch, until, suddenly, it slipped from the hypnotist's fingers and fell to the floor, breaking into a hundred pieces.

'SHIT!' said the Hypnotist.

It took three days to clean up the Senior Center.

Back in the Saddle

Today was the first day for most people to be back at work. I went back to the office last week but didn't really work too hard as there was no one around.

Today that changed. Everyone who needed stuff done today bombarded our inbox. I got busy and before I knew it, it was time for lunch. Back to work and the day was done.

it was a bit awkward for people to see me who I literally have not seen in more than a month. Some knew that hubby had passed away and others not. They just knew I had been gone a long time. Everyone was really nice and offered kind words. It made going back easier.

I did find out that the guy who sits across from me had his own scary time for the past month. He and his wife adopted a little boy about 2 months ago. The first part of Dec, they got a letter saying that the birth mom (BM) now wanted the baby back. They were devastated. Turns out BM is a bit psycho and birth dad (BD) had dumped BM and she thought that she could get BD back if the baby was back in the picture. They found out last Friday that the adoption was all good and that the BM can not get the baby back. I was happy for them. He did say that they will no longer have any contact with her after she pulled that. I don't blame him. That is just pure psycho bitch....

I have been trying to spend the last couple of days just getting things organized in the house. The mess is making me crazy. I do not like clutter. It drives me up a wall. Tonight, I got most of my desk cleaned off. Filed stuff away for taxes, insurance papers, receipts... all that fun stuff. I ended up with a full paper bag of shredded bits for recycling. Damn near burned the shredder out. I will feel more settled once I can get the basement and spare room cleaned up. It just takes time. I have some stuff I want to sell on either ebay or Craigslist. If you know someone who can use a good set of Oneida flatware or a set of Chicago Cutlery knives, let me know.

Have a good week all. Peace out.

Philly Sun

Thanks to a girl I work with, I am now hooked on the show, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It is freaking hilarious.

I have just finished watching season 1. It is too funny. I love how every episode Charlie, Dennis and Mac get into some calamity. One of the funniest is when Dennis runs over Charlie and Charlie is in a wheelchair. Charlie figures out that it is a good way to get chicks until Frank goes over the top of him and the rest of the gang pretends to be cripples as well. Mac and Dennis go to the mall in wheelchairs and then end up in fight. Way too funny.

Danny DeVito is just a riot. The music reminds me of Leave it to Beaver.

I really have to make a point to watch this when the new season starts.

Ringing in the New Year

I'm glad that 2008 is over with. Time to put the year that was not very good behind me and move forward.

2008 seen alot of changes in my life. Some I planned for and many I did not. I don't want to reflect on the past year. You can read the archives if you want to see what has gone on.

I have learned that I am stronger than I ever knew I was. It has been a difficult path to learn (and I am still learning) this but in the end I will come out stronger.

I have learned that my friends mean the world to me. They have been there with the comforting word, the shoulder to lean on and hugs to keep me going. The occasional beer or ten also helped. Thank you for everything. I could not have gotten thru this past month without you guys.

Last evening was spent with afore mentioned good friends. Wine was drunk, food (no one will ever accuse this group of running out of food) eaten and good times were remembered. We had fun playing Scattergories and Farkle. Who knew that the word Farkle could be used in so many ways.

I look forward to the new year bringing many more wonderful camping trips, poker playing parties and spending time with good friends.

I hope that 2009 brings all of you, my friends, everything you desire and more.

Peace out.
